Study Sessions with Butchy

Study Sessions with Butchy started in 2018 as a community initiative built around a single question that almost everyone entering the field eventually hits: “Where do I start?”

Over the past eight years, a volunteer team of fifteen experienced industry professionals has worked with more than 100 students, IT practitioners, and enthusiasts — helping them build the skills to understand offensive and defensive security from the ground up. The sessions are open to anyone: career changers coming from outside IT, existing professionals looking to develop their security skills, or anyone who simply wants to understand how this stuff actually works.

Each session focuses on a different educational resource, working through it as a group with experienced practitioners in the room. It is a low-barrier way to get started, ask real questions, and build knowledge alongside people who have been doing this for a long time.

Courses and tooling are coming — built on the same practical, no-nonsense approach that has driven the sessions since day one.
